During this tour we’ll visit the Tiahuanaco or Tiwanaku Site Museum to see the pieces unearthed at the site and then tour the ruins themselves, including the Sun Gate, intricately carved from a single massive stone and displaying a calendar and deity. Which have yet to be deciphered, a pyramid used for ritual sacrifice, and other fascinating temples, shrines and statues.
COMPLEX TIAHUANACO OR TIWANACO:
Is located 20 km south-eastern shore of Lake Titicaca in La Paz Department in Bolivia, was an important Pre-Columbian archaeological site of Tiwanaku culture, Where are the ruins of the ancient city, known as: Kalasasaya and other important buildings; Puma Punku, Door of the Sun, Monolito Ponce, Keri Cala, Putuni, Laka Kollu, the Akapana pyramid and Wila Pukara, which served as residence to the priestly elite. Many constructions of Tiahuanaco architecture have not been maintained due to the low resistance of the adobe (Mass of mud and straw, molded shaped bricks) against severe weather conditions in the highland region.

In this shared tour, we will pick our client up from different downtown hotels in La Paz to head to Tiahuanaco through a paved road; Tiahuanaco is located at 72 km. from the city of La Paz.
Once at small town of Tiahuanaco, visit to the site Museums “Lithic and Ceramic” a collection of Lithic (Stone) and Ceramic pieces unearthed at the site. Of those most prevalent are the kero ceramic cups, which were ritually smashed and buried after ceremonies.
Continuing with the tour, visit to the archaeological site of Tiahuanco and its major ceremonial centers as; The Pyramid of Akapana, Templete Semi-Subterraneo, Keri Kala, Putuni, Katantallita,Templo of Kalasasaya, the Sun Gate and Puma Punku. (2 hours and 30 min Time of visit).
Then, we will enjoy a typical lunch in tourist restaurant of Tiahuanaco. After the lunch, we return to La Paz, arriving at approx. 2:30 pm. To La Paz.
